Trip to Bangkok!

What's up guys?? I know its been ages since I've blogged, but I am back now!!! I was busy enjoying my trip in Bangkok, which also happens to be my first trip outside my country and that's one more item checked off from my Bucket list.

I stayed in Bangkok for around 15 days and it's an experience I will cherish forever. I went there for a film shoot, so my trip was mainly a work trip, but it felt like a holiday nevertheless. It's so amazing to travel to new places and experience things you've never even thought possible. After this trip, I for sure can say that I've been bitten by the travel bug and I hope to travel the whole world. Yep, that's my plan.

Bangkok is in many ways different from my country. The city is comparatively clean and everything is so cute and colorful!

Here are a few glimpses of Bangkok City and is my stay in a nutshell.

We went to this place called Khao San, where I got myself a "foot massage".

This is what I could see while getting my foot massage...

I got a 'thai massage' from another place and it was one hell of an experience!!

One of my favorite things about Bangkok was the street food. There were vendors selling a variety of meat dishes, noodles, soups, fruits as well as fruit juices. Since I was very very hot, I had a lot of cold drinks, juices and coffee.

These are squids by the way. I've tasted this in India too, but the style of cooking is different. In India we have a lot of cooked food with a million spices and all. In Bangkok its just roasted a little and given with sauce that has a lot of chilly flakes in it.

There is also this amazing dish called roti. That has to be my favorite dish in Bangkok hands down (pity I didn't click pictures). They lay the dough on the pan, spread a mixture of egg and banana on top and fry it, and then add chocolate on top of it. Yummy!

Plus I had this dish with mango and sticky rice. Not my favorite but a welcome change.

I was also fortunate to be there during the Water festival called "Songkran".  This festival lasts for around 5 days where people throw water on each other, even in the streets when you are walking or doing your own thing. I can't remember enjoying anything more in my life. And their water guns are so cool.

And did I mention the shopping? It's a dream!! I bought a lot of things and I don't think I need to shop for another year. I was so engrossed with the shopping that I totally forgot to take pictures of the markets.
All in all, this journey was better than I hoped for! I am so glad for having had this opportunity.

Useful Tips when travelling to Bangkok

1) Always carry your hotel card with the directions on it, when you step out of the hotel. It will ensure that you don't get lost.

2) Taxi's are cheaper than tuk tuks in Bangkok, if you are a tourist. Tuk tuks do not have a meter and you have to pay whatever price the driver asks you. And since you are a tourist the driver is definitely going to ask you for a higher price. Take a taxi with a meter instead, till you get a hang of the place.

3) You can always bargain while shopping, but don't forget basic manners and be polite. The people here are very friendly.

4) There are 7/11′s on every street, where you can get snacks, basic toiletries and household items. They are open 24 X 7.

things money can buy

I've been doing some shopping for my film actually and also a little for myself along the way (finally!!)

Some things I got...

These rings have a funny story. The bug i flicked (bad me), the butterfly one I begged the vendor to give me for free and the center one, the guy happily gave me for free.

This is my favorite one.

Also got myself this evil-eye amulet.

Writing dreams

My goal of remaining positive throughout this year has opened up so many doors. I been trying to develop my intuitive abilities, lucid dream, make sense of the Law of Attraction and so on.

Have you guys heard of lucid dreaming before? I got curious about it after I watched Inception. I am gathering all possible information and trying to lucid dream myself.

Lucid dreaming is basically the proven ability to become aware while you're dreaming - to consciously "wake up" inside the dream world and control your dreams. In a lucid dream everything you see, feel, taste, hear and smell can be as authentic as your waking reality. This sounds so exciting to me. How cool it is to make the best of life even while sleeping!

To start lucid dreaming you basically have to first remember your dreams. Ever night, a person gets anywhere between  four to six dreams! So if you think you don't dream often, you just aren't able to remember your dreams. That's where dream journal comes in. I've started writing down my dreams. As of now I can remember only a dream a night and sometimes if I am lucky, two.

What about you guys? Do you remember your dreams everyday? Have you tried to lucid dream?
